Deflating eggs and humidity in incubator, please help.

gumbymon Nov 27, 2004 02:18 PM

I have a clutch of eggs that are now 4 weeks old. Yesterday I noticed that they started to deflate and the humidity is at about 78%. The perlite was moistened as described within the four books that I have prior to laying the eggs in. 3 of 4 books say not to wet the eggs and 1 book says to lightly mist the eggs once a week. Not to much is said about how to keep the perlite moist without weting the eggs. Now yesterday after seeing the eggs start to deflate, I misted all the eggs and poured some water in the container of the perlite with the eggs and by morning the eggs were back to normal. Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
