Albino Mexican Milk ?

jcherry Nov 27, 2004 04:49 PM

Someone mentioned an albino mexican milk snake in an earlier post. If they exist are they pure Mexican Milks(annulata) or hybrids captively produced as the last reported ones were? If anyone has info. on origins etc., I would love to look into it!

PS thepic. is not an Mexican Milk, but rather a Cosala, Mexico sinaloan.

JC,
I believe there is a lady out your way working with them. I too wondered if they were pure. She can be contacted through Hardy Reptiles.

Hi John
That was me. I saw an adult at the Anaheim, CA show a few months ago. It is real annulata, originating from WC adults from the same area (I think Freer, TX.. trying to remember.) I believe the breeders are Hardy Reptiles of Bullhead City, Arizona - again, I'm going on memory here, so don't quote me.

I has the shape, disposition, pattern and color of annulata.

I have been working with annulata for some time now and have seen the amelanistic animals in person. I have absoultly no doubt that the snakes are pure annulata judging by the body shape and the unmistakable blunt pointy head. Susan Hardy is the breeder and has the lineage information tracable back to wild caught animals from the Freer Texas area. Back a few months ago Susan posted in this forum. It's probably still there. I hope this helps.

I apprciate the information, with the numerous hybrids running around and being from Texas I like to stay abreast of the new "finds" in native animals. Though I have collectted the Freer area for over thirty years this is the first report of an albino annulata to my knowledge. I look forward into looking into them.

Thanks,
