Enflamed/swollen Casque

morilibus Nov 27, 2004 05:42 PM

Hello,

We have noticed over the last couple days that our male Veil Cameleon's Casque has become swollen, it is the weekend and we are unable to take it to the vet at the moment and am wondering if anyone may be able to help us out till monday. I've included a picture taken yesterday. The chameleon is adopted and we've only had him for a few months, I know the previous owner who owned him for a few years, beyond that his age is unkown but estimated at about 6 years old.

I've found some other posts similar to this problem that may indicate a liver infection. He's always been a picky eater, he likes greens and will go to his dish to eat them, but no interest in crickets but will eat tons of superworms if you let him(but trying not to give him to many).

enlcosure is a 2'X 2'X 4' wire mesh enclosure.
any help appreciated.
Thx.

im not sure what would cuase that other than a prob with vitamins....have you been giving him supplements?

also i would switch from super worms to silk worms as silk worms are like the ultimate health food staple for reptiles.

if he still drinks and eats he should make until the vet visit witch needs to be asap.

Took him to the vet today, was an infection, and was starting to swell up even more by today. He had gotten a burn a while back from a temp bulb that was a little too hot, and the burn had gotten infected.

Yes, need to find a place to get silk worms, only ever get them when the Reptile show comes around twice a year.

Thanks for the input.
