Love those Mandarins! That red is really striking on the male. I had a terrible time picking out my pair 2 years ago because I liked both the aluminum grey background and the red tinged background (so I got one of each) and I was afraid the offspring would end up just being kind of muddy. Are you breeding that pair and if so, have the offspring exhibited both colorations? I wish I knew the country of origin for the parent stock of my pair...
Here's a pic of my reddish female.

I really like the color and pattern of your male too, Lora. My s. China pair have the red-spotted scales, but I like the pure light gray background even more. In Europe there's a hypomelanistic Mandarin in someone's possession which might make things interesting too. BTW, your snakes are likely from somewhere in China, since there hasn't been much in the way of imports from other countries that I know of. Best...TC.
As young adults they both have the same coloration. I will probably be breeding them for the first time this coming year and have a younger pair of sichuan province from another bloodline that I will cross with them the year or two after. The other pair has pretty much the same coloration.
They get rather large for mandarins and have large cluthes when fully grown. They can have up to around 10 or just over, that being from older females. When I got the two pair as hatchlings I was amazed at how big they were for mandarin hatchlings.
Lora that males big yellow diamonds are truly eye catching. Very nice! Randy W.

i love mandarins....but the price tags are still a bit high
would love some of the other phases.....stripes, melanistics, hypo, etc.
truly a work of art in the reptile world
