choosing a frog

toad112081 Nov 27, 2004 09:56 PM

Hello everyone. I wanted to get a couple of frogs going a tank, but not sure what to get. I want something that I can get out and handle. I'm not big on display animals. To me what's the purpose if you can't interact with them. I was looking at white's but if anyone has better ideas let me know. Thanks.

Everything I've learned in life I've learned from Nintendo!

While it is not a good idea to handle any frog, whites can tolerate it far better than most other frogs

My reccomendation to you is a whites. While they require a lot of room (20 gallons for one frog and 10 additional for each additional frog) they are one of the eaisiest to keep. They are not nervous, which is nice, so you can pick them up now and then. They are also not too sensitive to humidity and temperature. If you do hold them, rince your hands of very well, and DO NOT use soap. You have to make sure all the oils are off your hands. You could also use latex gloves, but I think they feel nasty on my hands. Anyways, I would say whites tree frogs are the best if you would like to handle them a bit.

Thanks for the info. I know that it's not a good idea to handle them often but I still want something that I can do more with than just look at. I guess I'm going to look at the classifieds and see if I can find a couple of young ones cheap. Thanks again!
