Haitian Dwarf Boa (Tropidophis haetianus) gave birth!

korell Nov 27, 2004 10:33 PM

Well, I know these are not Candoia, but they're small "ground boas" as well so I thought you guys might enjoy these.

My female Haitian Dwarf Boa (Tropidophis haetianus) gave birth to 11 young today. She gave birth to only one on Thanksgiving day and then no more. So I got a little concerned and today took her to my vet who injected her with Oxytocin to induce labor. Three hours later she gave birth to 10 more beautiful babies. Now I'm faced with the challenge of feeding these little gems

I hope I didn't intrude on your forum, but I'm still a little confused about were I could post about these. I initially consulted in the "Boa Forum" when my female had problems delivering, and I got some good advice there, but that forum deals mainly with the "big guys" (Boa constrictors).

Congrats...don´t worry about posting here they are very similar to Candaoia.
Keep us posted about the feeding issue....my juveniles are feeding on fish, frogs and pinkies.
Good Luck,

Wow, thats really cool that she had babies. Did you breed these or was she gravid when you got her. It looks like its size is relevent to candoia at this age. Maybe the feeding issues aren't as bad with these. They are interesting Boas.
