Cold Weather Climate Alli snapper keepers

Anybody keep their big Alligator Snappers out doors in the North East section of the country in the winter time with a Pond Heater?

If so, have you noticed any problems with the Turtle.

I think I recall reading something from last year that a guy has alli snappers outdoors in a pond with a pond heater when it is below freezing outside and the turtles do fine but, I can't seem to find that post anymore.

i live on li new york.my allys are in the garage in rubbermaid stock tanks.i have pond deicers on them that turn on automatically when the water temp reaches 35.the garage is not heated and only partially insulated but is usually 10-12 degreeshigher than outside.the pumps and filters run so the water never really freezes just maybe a little on the surface, butthe deicers are my backup.ive had it this way for 5 years and never a problem.

Extreme care must be used with anything electrical around ali snaps.I just visited a local breeder to see some of his collection, and he showed me heaters and electric wires bitten thru by them.electricution is a sad way to loose a cherished pet.
