you will be happy with whatever you get if you get a blackthroat monitors, i know several people who have thought they had big males and then what do you know they evert or mate and voila female. It seems to me to be one of the species where there isnt a lot of physical distinction, at least not to prefer one look or the other. I have a pair, and my female is more "masculine" than my male, in behaviour and size, And i know each sex to be what it is do to multiple eversions on each animals behalf.
my male is on the left, my female is opposite.
