I got a new camera, PIC!

FireDrake Nov 28, 2004 04:00 PM

It's an early b-day present to myself, a Fuji Finepix S7000, 6 Megapixels! Woowoo

Just wanted to show off my jungle boy, he's getting prettier every shed.

Very Nice, I been through 3 cameras and I've had bad luck finding a good one. I'd love to get pix like that, but with a smaller camera. That camera (if I remember well) is kinda big, but I takes great pix thou. and what about the last email I sent you did you get it? can't wait to see what you produce next season.

Yeah I got your last email, sure you can have first pick!
The camera isnt too large, its smaller and lighter than my "real" 35mm camera. I'm having a lot of fun with it, the macro is amazing!!

I have been looking for a new camera as well. How can you tel which macro gets closer?

I know your camera has 12 million pixels and you can enlarge the print to get the desired effect. Is that how you got the shot above or did you just snap the pic and post?

I have been to camera stores and the employees working the counter don't seem to know much about macro lenses. I wish somebody here could chime in with what I need to look for. I just need it for internet and don't need the high resolution due to the fact its unnessary for internet posting. I use a 1.2 mega pixel and people tell me a 7.0 mega will not be any better quality on the internet. So how do I get a macro that can gets as close as yours without the price tag that yours has?

Someone had given me this link when I ask about cameras on the ratsnake forum. It is a very busy site and has been very helpful in learning about what you want to do.

Thanks for the site! I have been navigating through it and saved it in "favorites". There is a lot of information there but its hard to find the answers I am looking for.

Well, i dont really know much about the different macros out there. I do know I can have the lense of the camera less than an inch from the object and get a nice picture. That pic I took is with the macro option, and then further cropped, but not much. If I was on my other computer I could show an awesome pic of my ball pythons eye with reflected scales in it.
I dont know about the megapixels and internet thing, I can sure see differences in other peoples pics, and my own too. I dunno. I like to print out pics too so I really like this, and it was only $500. That's what credit cards are for. I dont think that's a bad price, 3 years ago my 3.2 megapixel camera was $300, now you can get that for $100 or so. To me its worth the money!

I remembered I had this one on CD. I took this a few days ago, it was on macro, but I cropped it WAY down. The original pics shows all the head and part of body, so I am very happy with how these come out!

That is some nice precision! I wonder if I can get that from one of the smaller cameras on the market... I'm so jealous!

I hope we will be seeing more of your pics one here!

a higher resolution will aid in getting good macros, as long as the macro lens is decent itself. If you can get as close as 0.5-1" away from the subject, you'll be able to shrink and crop the pic just as you want. This is how I did this shot here......and my camera is only 1.3 MP. The picture is actually more crisp than this site shows. The higher the MP count, the better your closeups and macros will be.

My camera is a 2.1 megapixel and it has a macro lens. Problem is i cannot get closer than 6" with it. I want a cheap camera that I can get shots like yours. What brand and model is yours Brandon? Terrific pictures you always post. I don't know why I never asked you before.

Thanks

It's a Sony Cybershot DSC-30. I think it was the cheapest one they made at the time. lol. I think it takes great pics for what it is. I need to get the newer high end model. You should check them out. They are super easy to use and the batteries are long life lithium.
