I'm not really qualified to answer this, but from what your talking about it be her _______ spores. I cant remember exactly what they are called. But if thats what they are then its nothing to worry about. I would wait and see though what the others on this forum say.

Hope I helped a little.

They're probably the scent glands, femoral pores or glands or something like that

femoral pores.....that was the word i was looking for

PHLdyPayne Nov 28, 2004 06:18 PM

THose are Femorial pores and are perfectly normal. No need to get rid of them.

The picture is hard to make out, but that is the femoral pore area, and without better pictures to make sure they are not inflammed, I would say that is a he, not a she

i was told by a vet (one of the best in the nation) and by a good friend that is really good with beardies that it is a female

InTheBlue Nov 28, 2004 07:09 PM

I had a female that had femoral poors larger than the male I paired her with... not unusual at all realy for females to have larger femoral poors than males from what I understand. I know several people who have experienced the same thing as well.

Cheri what would cause them to be inflamed? I've never really heard of that. Interesting...

Substrate or what they run on, someone on here this year, I can not rememember the name, lost a male with inflammed femoral pores and that was diagnosed due to an infection from the substrate. Male lizards rub these on branches, trees, basking area to mark their territory or leave their scent. I do not rememeber what the substrate was or the other facts.

We got one male beardie(two femoral pores) and a female iguana (several on one side)that were badly infected when they arrived here as rescues, the male recovered with antibiotics, but the female iguana has bad scars over two of hers, the pores really do not even exist anymore but for the scarring. There was just so much damage.

Our server is down right now being changed over, once it is up I will take a picture of the female's damage, as she is still with us and post it.
