I was in the process of cleaning quarantine tubs and giving each animal soaks, so I figured I'd snap some pics of one of my pairs of V. boehmei.. Cheers,

I have a question, I may have a misunderstanding but, if you have these over water and mist them with a misting system, Why do they need soaking?

Its been my experience, monitors develop thicken skin thats hard to shed, when kept too moist. This may not apply to yours, just a thought. FR

These are the animals that I picked up a couple of days ago, and are currently in temporary quarantine enclosures, not the permanent water-bottom enclosures that I've spoken about. I do not have a misting system on the quarantine enclosures, but do mist them with a hand sprayer. I was giving them soaks because they still have some caked on skin from when I got them.

I do not normally give my animals soaks, heck, I usually never remove them from their enclosures or even touch them. These are my new animals that are still a bit roughed up, which is why I soaked them...

There is no need for me to soak my established animals, as the humidity in the enclosures is suitable for them, and daily mistings encourage them to drink.. something they usually do not do from a bowl or basin.

Cheers, sorry for the misunderstanding. Take care,

bob

Can't see thru this box.

It does seem monitors are very picky about quality of water, they do not drink for old or dirty water. Or at least do not want to. I guess we can make them.

Good luck with your new ones and I wish the best. FR
