Handling Question Please Help!!!!!!!!

wsurugby10 Nov 29, 2004 12:39 AM

I was just wondering when it was ok for me to handle my Jungle Carpet Python after it has eaten? I fed it two fuzzy mice on Sunday the 28th. It's three months old and about two feet long. If anyone out there could help me out I would appriciate it. Thanks for your time

i have a 3 or 4 year old jungle carpet (about 7.5') and i usually give it 4-5 days before handling. with yours you should be able to handle it without risk of regurgitation after 3 days.

wow...a 7.5 foot jcp. mine is 6 foot and 2 years old as best as i can figure. i bought her at a reptile store so don't know her exact date of hatching. i house her in an 80 gallon size aquarium. what do you house yours in?? i'm wondering if mine will get bigger.

im not sure of the exact gallon size but dimensions are 36"x18"x16". my jcp is a female and typically they get longer than the males. i expect mine to get probably around 9 feet as she sheds pretty consistently. jcp's can reach up to 10 feet as i have learned but thats pushing it. get ready for a big snake.

i have read they max out at 8 foot. either way i'm not going to get rid of her if she does reach 10 foot. that would be cool though. mine loves her big branches but i'm wondering if she gets any bigger if she'll need something bigger then the 80 gallon i have her in.

if it is feisty or acts up after 3 days then just leave it alone and wait for it to pass the stool. then you should have absolutely no problems.
