Florida Cooter Question Please Respond

wsurugby10 Nov 29, 2004 12:44 AM

My buddy just bought a Florida Cooter on Saturday and I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some caresheets. If there isn't any out there could someone help tell me what I need to know to properly take care of this turtle? Right now he is housed in a tank that will need to get bigger as he does. There is good filtration and the water is heated to about 77 degrees. There is also a large log that sticks out of the water and he basks there. Please tell me everything you know.

Cooters and sliders have pretty similar needs, but cooters get even larger. Cooters will need more vegitation in their diet. Try to find information on their natural history rather than a care sheet.

Remember, hide spots are just as important as food to the mental well-being of a turtle.
