new world python?

shelley7950 Nov 29, 2004 09:01 AM

I was reading a book the other day that said something like "all pythons are found in the old world, with the exception of one species..." and then went on and never said which species is found in the new world...Does anyone here have any idea what this new world python species is? Thanks...

That really depends on the source. It is argued to be a python because of certain structual similarities. The other school of thought places it with the Sunbeam snake (Xenopeltis).

I am not up on the latest liturature on them but my own opinion is that they are their own (unique)animal.

I have one. They make nice pets.

Not off hand. But except for more or (usually) less white dotting they pretty much all look alike.
