Air Plants?

seymorspal Nov 29, 2004 09:11 AM

Will tropical air plants hurt my iguana? I just got three little plants and thought of putting them in his cage.

To be able to help you, we need the exact name of the plant, as you know some plant are edible and some toxic.

Air plants are NOT toxic to animals. Just because they are non-toxic, doesn't mean you want your ig to eat them, so you can mount them out of your igs reach. Since air plants need no soil, you can mount them almost anywhere. THis means you can mount them in places your iguana cant reach, like the top corners of your cage. You can just use silicon, hot glue(thought I am not sure it would hold in the humidity), or tie the plants up with string or wire. It is usually recommended you mist your air plants with distilled water or rain water, as the minerals and inpurities in tap water can kill the plants over time. jrbl
