thats one lot of lite bulbs. I hope your careful, because around here, thats called an oven. You must have that cage in a cold room. FR

I bet that'll be a nice add on to the electric bill.

Now 6, but Im still adjusting temps. I use 45 watt bulbs only with all of my reptiles. Shadow uses 3 bulbs, the beardies 2 (except the lone male). Shadow inherits Sobeks old cage with a new plywood bottom and FRP lining soon (she ripped through the melamine with her claws and water damaged it).

Im still constructing, today the rest of the dirt showed up....holy crap am I tired from carrying 5 gallon buckets full of dirt from the driveway, through the garage, down the stairs, and dumping them, then back up for more. Her cage needed 25+ trips with 3 each 5 gallon buckets and a 10 gallon plastic container full each load. Its about 2 feet deep except where her basking spot is. The dirt was cold from the temps outdoors so Im warming it up some. The ambient air temp in the warm end at ground level is around 80f, the ambient in the cool end is between 68-72f, the ambient in the middle to the right of the log is also between 73-75f. The basking spot is 135f (still adjusting the height of the bulbs). There are no heat sources what so ever from the right of the 2 extra bulbs mounted 3ft above the log. Theres a water dish on the other end this time big enough for her to wade in and make mud. Oh, the surface temp on that log from 3ft away is around 110f. The basement air temps are between 68-72f so far as its heated, I set this room aside just for my monitors, beardies, and spider, all new outlets etc. It has consistant temps all year around down there so I have less adjusting to do with temps. There is a total of 6-45 watt GE flood bulbs in the cage (with the capability of adding 2 more above the log if needed). The basking spot is 14.5 inches from the bulbs.

are those all 65 watt halogen outdoor flood bulbs?

The 4 together seem to be shining more on a spot then dispersing.

With my indoor incandescent floods I do not see light circles they all blend together. What is the ambient temperatures in the cage?

I wonder howmany of those bulbs will need to be shut off during the summer up there. Down here that would not work during anytime of the year.

80f right around the basking spot...

Ambients in the middle by the log are 74-75f..

On the cool end its between 68-72f (room temps)..

Of course after the dirt warms up it could change. The dirt is now 2ft deep.
