Still unregulated and in my speculation they will be for a long time yet... There are other species that have long been on CITES II that have had no sanctions places on their importation... I wouldn't expect any quicker legislation for Uroplatus...

Gotta love everyone's quick jump to try and make a buck. We as comsumers need to either boycott whats occuring or suffer with the high prices. I know the last vendor who posted Satanics for sale. Does anyone else know Species U.S. besides myself?
When I bought my recent Mossys from him, he did not have any other leaf tails. And I know a big shipment just arrived and another is about to come into the country.

We are going to get screwed with this Cities info and leaf tails.

i feel ya on that last note. it's ridiculous the prices because serious people as ourselves cant even get our hands on the numbers anymore because we just cant afford to pay 2 to 4 times what we're used to. very very frustrating as i quit my job a few months ago for school while im still looking to expand my collection. i was originally very enthusiastic about breeding with more species within the genus, but with the way things have been going lately, im somewhat questioning whether or not im going to be able to continue this. not surprising that now that the phants have finally come back in the market that everyones selling them at outrageous prices. if just one vendor could put a decent price out there for us....

I can get phants for $35 a pop...

My only thought on it is if they INTEND to put quotas on a particular year, that they dont spend until October trying to decide what they will be - no quotas issued on a quota bearing species means no importing... THis happened last year? with some Madagascan animals...

I, for one, will not pay the outlandish prices advertised. I will wait until someone I know and trust is wanting to get rid of them, or we've got established captive breeding colonies. This happens all the time with animals, the supply - demand principal takes a hold and the hobbyists suffer because some people wouldnt wait until they became more available. If a person cant sell them for $200 each (or whatever) they will lower the price, plain and simple.

I am not paying twice the price for an animal that is wild caught, full of parasites and dehydrated (anyone see the tails on some of the Uros posted in the last day or two? They look like pencils - NOT good.)not to mention beat up. I just wont do it.

i agree. unfortunately, i had to decide against an otherwise BEAUTIFUL henkeli for the same reason earlier this year - she was just bone thin and bore little resemblance to what she should have looked like. i was tempted from the advertisement about a week ago selling CB phants and ebens, however i know at 6 months my baby phants were still a risk to ship, especially when its getting so cold everywhere now. like leah mentioned...i hope the availability picks back up, it would be horrible if this trend were to make a long(er)-term impact on prices. even though ive seen some astonishingly great looking geckos, theres no way in hell im gonna spend that much money especially when like you said, they come in in such horrid condition.
