Thursday, I saw my pair of P.standingi mating and afterwards I noticed that the male had a tiny bit of blood near his cloaca. They mated again yesterday and he was bleeding alot. The blood was dripping down on the glass. When mating ended, his hemipene was all bloody. It also took a minute for the hemipene to retract, but finally it went back into its sheath. They have been together for 2 years and have mated several times with no problems. Neither of the 2 recent matings were rough, nor was the female resistant. Anyone know what might be wrong? Should I take him to his vet? The fact that he was bleeding didn't reduce his drive to finish, so I'm going to assume that he's probably not in pain.

Thanks,
Lisa
