I have two giant day geckos that I keep them with about 2in. bamboo. Should the hollow ends of the bamboo be left open to allow the geckos to hide in or closed up with something to keep the crickets out?

Keep em open, if the geckos can get in they will eat any crickets trying to hide in there much like out of a dish.
