Hey everyone!!

Anyone have any Common names for this species?

Also any info on how to obtain these beautiful animals, they are from New Guinea.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

To my knowledge, both Hypsilurus and Gonocephalus species predominantly, do not have common names - at least common within the hobby. They no doubt have common names in NG. Most just fall under the umbrella of "Tree Dragon", same way that all of the Acanthosaura species are lumped under "Mountain Horned Dragon". Even many dealers aren't aware that there are different species.

The only member that I am aware of on KS that has kept some of these agamids (G.chameleontinus) I believe, is Ingo. Alternatively, you could try the Yahoo Agamid Group that Marcia sponsors.

I am actually only a member of the group you mentioned. I never realized I was breaking any rules in including the link in my signature but appearently I was as they removed it! In case you would like to post there the addy is groups.yahoo.com/group/agamid/.

Also, I believe that Scott Corning from the Sailfin group has mentioned Hypsilurus but I'm not sure. You may want to sound him out as well. I think he may be on both groups but since I am not sure I will give you that link as well. It is groups.yahoo.com/group/SailfinDragons/.

Good luck in your search!

BTW: Its Hypsilurus auritus and I know of no common name.
Just for the record: I have kept 4 Gonocephalus species so far
-but I only had breeding success with G. chamaeleontinus
