What a wonderful question! I suppose it depends on how much of your free time you want to devote to snake feeding, care, and cage cleaning. I have my little herd about where I like it, sizewise, for my space and time. I try to do a little feeding and care everyday. This way it's not a big deal. I currently have 9 boas over 2 years old, 18 yearlings, and 8 babies. I have a few more that will be going to their new homes soon, so I'm not counting them. This is the first time I've actually counted them in a long time NON-snake people are always asking me, "How many boas do you have?" When I tell them I don't have a current count, they look at me with that weird look we all get from "regular" people. With my job and having time for my horses, this is a good amount of boas for me to care for. At the times I get a little behind, I feel like I probably DO need a 12 step program. However, as soon as I'm caught up......it's all good

34 right now. 21 of them are babies. (6 of the babies I plan on keeping for a while) That really is too much for me. I love having one on one time with my boas. I just can't do it right now. I try to get them all out still....But, it just isn't enough for me. I am my worst enemy when it comes to boas. I want the benefits of a small collection...But, I love the diversity of owning a large collection. (And, there are still some morphs I want to own) It is a disease. LOL!
But, I love it!!! And, I can't get enough. I'll just have to win the lottery so I can spend more time with the family and the snakes. LOL!

Well listening to all that you guys have I am at the low end of 18 ......11 boas....1 blood python.....6 corn snakes but I have 2 more boas coming from salmon boa.com so make it an even 20 snakes. My wide says that is a good number although I also have crested geckos ,tortoises,a savanah monitor and just a few water turtles. My wife is the one who bought my first snake 12 years ago she still crumbles over that sometimes..............

I'm down to 16 at the moment from over 20.. 5 kenyans, 2 ball pythons and 9 bci. I would like to get up to about 40 boas and I will be happy with that number since I should be able to have a nice diverse collection of morphs at that time.

Let's see-I have ten boas, 4 bloods, 6 carpets, 1 burm, 4 retics, 2 anacondas, 1 afrock, 1 ball python, 4 lizards. Just caught a new addiction: Green Tree Pythons-gotta have some! Reptile madness-no cure-just embrace it and enjoy-as long as you are able to take good care of your animals-Bill.

I'm on the low end of this scale. I've 'only' got 7 boas right
now. A pair of Guyanans, a pair of Hogs who are busy making
boa whoopy right now, a pair of 2004 baby Bolivians and a
male dumerils who is the odd man out.

It's the perfect balance for me right now. I'm in an apartment
and until I move this is about right for me. The problem is that
I've become totally obsessed with Bolivian boas, especially
silverbacks. I may not be able to control myself through much
of 2005, and by then I'll hopefully have a litter of hogs to
deal with as well. Can't complain, I really love my boas...
