Reduced Black Thayeri

jlassiter Nov 29, 2004 09:36 PM

I have been working on a reduced black project in my Vivid Reptile line Thayeri with hopes of producing a Thayeri with no black at all. Now, would this be Hypomelanistic or would the ultimate no black Thayeri be just that a normal Thayeri with no black??????
What do you guys think?

This is the male I plan to breed the above female to in hopes of progessing the reduction of black pattern.
I guess if you are just reducing pattern and not pigment then the final "no black" thayeri would not be hypomelanistic. It would be call a thayeri absent of black pattern not pigment.
Just my opinion.

Applegate phase pyros have no black except for the head pattern. If this black was absent would they be hypo? or just awesome Applegate phase pyros????? LOL!!!
What would be correct?

Nice snake..........I don't believe it would be hypo at all..........just exstremly low black that Tim at Vivid has produced for the past several years.........I believe its due to his work that we see this type of reduced black thayeri today............someone may correct me if wrong........again, nice thayeri.......looks like your having fun.........chris bodner........chris' colubrids

Chris,
Thanks for the compliment.
For your information, these are from my Vivid line of Thayeri.
And Yes I am having fun with these. Like John Cherry has said many times it is like Christmas when these guys are hatching, you never know what is under the wrapping paper.
I have also seen numerous pics of your Thayeri and admire them greatly. I guess we owe most of the work to Tim at Vivid for putting such great bloodline into the market.
Later,
