Is this really a Jungle Corn?

Uncloudy Nov 30, 2004 02:13 AM

I got this baby Jungle Corn back in October at a reptile show advertised as a Jungle Corn. However, since I've had her I the more I look at her I think she may be a Desert Kingsnake. Regardless, I like the snake anyway. This is the only hybrid I own, the rest are kings and 2 corns. I would like to get some input and and opinions from some of you herpers with experience with hybrids and let me know what this snake really is a cross or breed of? Any information would be helpful because I don't have any history of her. Thanks for any responses in advance.

Are these the same two snakes? The first pic definately looks like a jungle corn. The second looks like a desert king.

This is a Jungle corn, it appears to be either a jungle crossed back to a desert king or a 2nd generation jungle (CornXDeset king). all the first generation jungles I've seen have a chiseled snout (Pointy). Your jungles appears to have a round head. I hope that helps..... your snake is definitely a Jungle!

Do you remember who you bought it from and at what show?It looks like a Splendida X Corn cross to me.

Thank you for the responses.
I got the snake at the mid-Oct. IRBA show in San Diego. I can't remember what breeder/company I got her from and the person couldn't tell me any history/parents/breeding information on this jungle corn, but it was at a good price of $45.
Brandon, the first pic is after a shed since I've had her and her saddles that were once almost all black like the second pic are starting to fade to yellow tipping and less black.
I guess with each shed she will start to less and less like a Desert King and when I first got her she was very tempermental and striking alot, after some handling now she never strikes or shows that bad temperment.
I definately think this snake has much more kingsnake genes like 3/4 king and 1/4 corn.
Thanks again for the responses because I was wondering if this were just a Desert Kingsnake morph and not a hybrid.

Thank you for all the responses.
It wasn't until after the first shed that I knew for sure, but all the input helps. I thought maybe she just could of been a morph of a Desert King Slendida. It's nice to know now that she is a Jungle Corn. Thanks.
