has anyone had any joy feeding them caned crickets from zoo med?

Honestly, I have never used the stuff..... I would think that the dead crickets loose some vital vitamins, minerals, and protiens...... I think it might be ok if you are out of live food and the pet stores are closed that day..... It is probably not in your leos best interest to use it as a staple diet..... My leos eat live food every day and my snake either eat live or fresh killed rodents..... Being dead for a while or frozen takes away some of the essentials from a whole food item.....

I personally HATE canned food and wish it had never been invented. From my own experiences and in my own opinion, I STRONGLY advise NOT using the canned food. My reasons are:

Like Greg said they have lost many of their vital nutrients, minerals...

If you only have one leo you probably won't use them all up before they go bad. One can should only be kept for 3-4 days, at least I have had them mold that fast. I e-mailed the distributor about them going moldy so fast, their response was, “would you eat a can of tuna if it had been in the fridge that long?”.

They are pretty expensive, well at least I paid $10 a can.

In the begining I started to keep them on hand in case I ran out of live food, I became lazy and used them more as a staple diet.

Unfortunately my leo became lazy as well and refused to eat live food.

Poor Rex died from MBD about four months after he stopped eating live food, which was about six-eight months after I started using the canned food. I did regularly dust his food as well

I know I am to blame for the most part, but still I would never touch canned food ever again.
