Kidcrazee82 Nov 30, 2004 04:22 PM

I hand feed my striped cal., but not IN my hand, I usually just have her take it from my hand... How do you do it without getting bitten?

If ya play the game be prepared to pay the price. Alright since i like other people doing it also, i'll give you a tip, alot of times i will hang a ft or live in a snakes tub( use forceps for the agressive ones) when the snake takes it and has a good bite on the food pull the the food with snake hanging on and place them in your other hand then start taking pics. I hope this info helps and good luck!

NIGRITA munching out on my finger i couldn't remove him so i submerged my hand into a sink of water he let go after about 3 mins. please excuse the bad pic but i was stressed out at the time.

you got bitten. But i figured it wasnt all the time or even a majority or you wouldnt do it. Thanks for the tip. I fed Snuggles (striped cal.) about 2 hours ago and hadnt seen your tip. I just held her in the palm of one hand, dangled the mouse with the other and hoped for the best! It worked but your idea seems a little more bite-proof. She is still small so her bite wouldnt be too bad (she's 22", hatch date unknown).

chance they get, And some are used to getting fed when they feel their tub sliding out of the rack then they go PSYCHO when the lid comes off their tub I'm glad i designed my racks to accommodate tubs with lids. ANYWAY please don't stress out your cali if you don't take it one step at a time your snake may become problematic, confused and go on a hunger strike. The reason i let you know this is because of the getula complex i found that Floridana, Blotched, MBK and splendida are much more co-operative than cali. Of the nine cali in my collection two would rather fling musk in my eye than eat in my hand. My non-cali never musk. Don't get me wrong i like all the L.g.subs but sometimes i wonder how californiae got so popular,LOL!

her taking the food from my hand and eating it in her rubbermaid tub. And as for her going on a hunger strike...I couldn't imagine. She hasn't bit me, but she has bitten my g/f 3 times! I don't know why?
