Okay someone PLEASE...I'm spazing out with this four day old veiled...

Chameleon996 Nov 30, 2004 05:43 PM

He seems really tired usually has his eyes closed. He will move if I touch him and walks with his eyes closed. I saw him eat and poop yesterday, but not sure about today. What will give him more energy?

I figured by the time I hatched my own I would know what was up but this guy was dropped in my lap.

First of all, let me ask what you've been feeding it? Also, how many times daily do you mist it? And what kind of housing are you using? Now, how about the tenps? Basking temp? Cool temps?
Are you gut-loading the crix or just feeding them dusted? Most big companies use only cricket chow to feed their crickets. You need to make sure that all the chow is out of the crickets body before you feed it to the hatchlings. Way too much vit. A in it. Fatal for chameleons. There also could be a stress issue. Do you keep it completely away from other pets & people?

I said I was spazing out, after I calmed down a bit I think I figured it out. He is in a white five gallon bucket with no lid ( similiar to what a rubbermaid container would be like only round). I have a mercury vapor bulb above him giving him a gradient between 85 and 76 degrees. He is eating gutloaded pinheads dusted with calcium and cricket dust. I think stress was an issue because today he is much more active and keeps his eyes open more. He did eat today. I think part of the problem is his care probably sucked for his first few days before I got him.

Thanks for being patient and calm with me......
