I just got my Nigerian Uro finally on Saturday! Im just a little confused with were to put my Uros cave. I read on another Uromastyx website when acclimating them it need to be on the hot side. Is this true? I always kept my Leopard geckos caves in the middle of my cages.

Ideally, you would have two or more hides on different ends of the cage and in the middle. If you only have one for now, then I would think the middle would be the best option.

I almost forgot to say CONGRATS on your new uro!! I love the Nigerians. Arthur was my first uro, so they have a special place for me.

your Uro shouldn't have to sacrifice safety for temp regulation, or vice versa. you should have multiple hide spots throughout the cage and temp range so that they can access the temps they need, but STILL feel safe, secure, and unstressed.

reptiles will often choose safety over temperature, and as a result feel plenty safe while literally freezing to death. offering your animal choices is the best approach.
