Hungry or aggresive.

karaslittleyoshi Nov 30, 2004 09:25 PM

Today while feeding Yoshi (male juvy) he seemed alot more aggresive. Usually if I have my fingers in his cage whi he is chasing crickets sometimes he mistakes my fingers for food but today it was like he was after my whole hand. He finally calmed down when he realized feeding was over but he has never been so wild. He was putting two crix in his mouth at a time. I know it may not sound so bad but they are live and he has to chase after them. Was he just hungry or is he getting aggresive? Any imput is helpful. Thanks all.

Sounds hungry to me... I know mine will sometimes do this after laying eggs, and others will do it if I have to go an extra day because the cricket shipment is delayed a day.

When we are feeding our blizzard male we have to watch our fingers! Anything in the cage is fair game in his book! But, when feeding is over and his stomach is full, he's as gentle as any other leo.
So, I'd say they can be aggressive when feeding, but I don't see it as being mean, just being a hungry lizard!
God luck!

I would say he is just hungry as well. Did you notice his tail waving while he was doing it? That could be a sign that it is aggression (probably just caused by fear) instead of just being hungry. It's not the same as when they rattle their tail during the hunt. Keep an eye out for the tail, but even if that is the case he should stop once he becomes more comfortable.

Try having a pacman frog. I fear for the life of my fingers whenever I open his cage. Way back when I got him at the pet store they told me he was a friendly little bugger, good God did they ever see me coming.
