this is the new female veiled im looking into right now. The owner says he found her being abused in a pet store and she had mvb in her back legs. he uses 2 uvb bulbs to reverse the mvb. hefound her 6 months ago and says she is healed now but he never took her to the vet. should i risk it. i asked him if he would do a 5 day health guarentee and he had to pay me my money back half the vet cost and half the shipping to take her back if something was wrong. anyway, does she look like she has any traces of MVB in her limbs at all. she is 9 months old.

Hmm. I think that if you are looking for a cham to breed this is not the way to go. If she did have MBD she's probably not strong enough to calcify eggs properly. I guess even if you aren't going to breed her this would still be a problem, being that she's going to lay eggs anyway. Do you really want to go through the egg-bound horrors that Josh and Erin did? Just my opinion, but I say find another.

Heya,

To be quite honest I can't see any clear signs of MBD. The foto's you posted aren't really conclusive though. If you could take a foto of perhaps the legs and casque?? Mostly MBD takes a hold of the casque and lower lip/jaw first and then moves on to the arms and legs. Does she have a nice strong grip or does she compensate with her arms and tail?

Other than the fact that she could have mbd, she looks fine. I personally would never opt to breed a female that has mbd though.

Just my 2 cents.

René Imming.
