calcium supp?

SnakeGrrl Dec 01, 2004 02:16 AM

I think I saw in a previous post someone said to not use commercial calcium supps with tegus? Right now I dust Inigo's insects with repcal phosphorpus-free calcium powder, should I not be doing this? It has worked well for me with other reptiles in the past but this is my first tegu, so I want to double-check. Thanks!

That reply you read I think was in response to people using the SDZ diet, which incorporates a specific ratio of ground turkey/bone meal/crushed vitamin tabs. Using calcium in place of bone meal in this diet is the problem; using it on gutloaded crix etc is fine.

I feed my blues and my reds 93% fat free ground turkey mixed with fuit and veggies. I suppliment with minerall outdoor for my reds (they live outside) and repcal D3 for my blues (indoor). They get this a couple times a week until they are one year old. They also get eggs and roaches. The reds get fruit daily as well. Is this a problem???
