to my knowledge, the only species of reptile you cannot collect in south carolina is the spotted turtle-and you can get a license to collect them (which i have)...but other than sea turtles and alligators-which should be a given-i do not know of any other regulated species.

Yeah, I heard it through the grapevine somewhere that the only legal place to collect simus is FL. I've searched the SC DNR website and can't find any herp info other than Alligator. Where did you find the regs that concern Spotted turtles? I'm quite surprised that SC regs concerning herps aren't easily found on the web. Shane

just know it through the businessover the years. there is a downloadable permit you fill out and mail to them which allows you to keep x-number of wild caught adults at one time-and permits you to sell only what you hatch out. not a bad deal seeing that most of the time we catch gravid females crossing access roads which are out there to lay eggs. three to five eggs per turtle at $100 per hatchling isnt too bad.

the southern is not protected in SC. Supposedly, there are some people in power trying to get them listed as protected in the state. This may take effect in '05, because I know that as of 01/01/04, this regulation was not in effect.

T. Bell- also, if you'd like to sell or trade some cb babies, I would certainly trade some FL stock simus!

e-mail me! lemme know
