Tiger or Yellowhead?

SPJ01 Dec 01, 2004 07:54 PM

I am seriously considering making the jump to the king of the constrictors and was wondering what would be the better choice as far as overall temperament (I am looking for the type that is usually the most docile when kept). I would most likely go with a male due to the smaller adult size but might consider a female if males are prone to getting "cranky" during breeding season.
Which would be the "best" choice to go with?
A tiger retic or a Thai yellowhead retic.

As long as you get a CBB animal, the tempermant will be the same. Just work with them while they're young and continue to as they grow, and you won't see a difference. The stigma of tigers being "tamer" is a thing of the past... I posted my opinion on this topic a little ways below as a reply entitled "One more thing" or something of the sort.

Get what you want. pygmentation (spelling?) really has nothign to do with personality. As it was said before just get a cbb animal and spend the time with it.

As far as sex goes, if you are going to be keeping it as a pet, I would recomend getting a male. They are a bit smaller, but still get huge. If you intend to breed, I would get a female.
