Daydreaming poll... What if...

Drosera Dec 01, 2004 08:06 PM

What if you could pick one to four snakes to keep (including or aside from species you already have)?
Hypothetically assume that the laws are okay with whatever.
You can easily afford that species.
You have enough space.
Your living situation allows it.
It's five years from now, so novices, you probably have enough experience.

The only limitations are, you don't have any extra time or extra assistance compared what you have now. (No minions and you can't quit your day job. Sorry.)

Here's mine.
1. Arizona Mountain King pyromelana pyromelana, (the wild type coloration)
2. Leucistic black rat snake
3. Vietnamese Blue beauty snake
4. Aru Scrub Python
All cb

So what's yours? In theory a 1:3 breeding set of leucistic ball pythons may be a savvier choice, but I like mine fine.

Only that few? Bummer...

Won't ever own but are incredibly cool:
Gaboon Viper (arguably the coolest color patterns anywhere)
Eyelash Viper
Inland Taipan (Yeah, I had to pick the most venomous land snake)
Green Mamba (Not the prettiest, but very intelligent)
Any of the Scrub Pythons

Snakes that I will eventually own:
Southern Copperhead
Amazon Tree Boa
Kenyan Sand Boa

I own the rest

It will be a few weeks till they get here, so I won't say yet. When they do come in and I see they are healthy, I will contact you (or if you prefer) Email me your contact info and I will give to the dealer to reserve them. You would like a pair?

When the time comes, you should start out with your leucistic ratsnake...And don't be shy about going with a Texas if that's what you find available and at the right price. Most settle down with a little time and patience, and I appreciate mine more since I had to "work" with him a little. He NEVER bites me now!

I will add to my collection of North American Ratsnakes with:

1. A licorice stick (white-sided) black rat.

2. An everglades.

3. An orange phase Texas.

4. And a yellow

A pretty modest list, really.

Now I just need to research what the heck some of these critters are and look like! LOL
Thanks Duffy, but for my first, I'll probably go with the Arizona kingsnake. Cute face, pretty pattern, seem like a good novice snake, and they're little enough so even if I move into some hole-in-the-wall, I can use still a medium sized tank and convince the critter that he's in the Ritz.
For the leucistic ratsnake, I'll keep the Texas in mind though. It does seem to have some advantages...
