Shedding question

ptdnsr Dec 01, 2004 09:15 PM

Our baby male, Shadow, tried to shed the other night and only managed to shed about an inch from his head towards his tail. At first it seemed like the rest of his skin wasn't ready to come off but now I see it slowly coming off right near the tip of his tail. Any suggestions? He's still kind of skittish, doesn't strike (at least not yet) at you though. Should I try warm water? If so what would be the best temperature? This is the first time I've had to deal with a snake not shedding properly. Sparks shed fine the first few times and Slink has yet to shed for us (but he's 4 and not growing as much). Shadow is still fairly small - probably only around 12". Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Look at my reply messages on November 28 on the shedding problem. It worked and I had to peel the skin.

Soaking in water will work fine. The only thing is you will have to be careful about the temp. If the water is too warm it can harm the snake. What I would do is, set up some water in the container and let it sit at room temp. before placing your corn in.
