Greetings all,

As the torpid daze of brumation are now nearly all around (I did find a C. atrox at he mouth of a mine adit this AM....)....I think we should take the time to share the best gems in our collective cyber-mining...

ck-out the many excellent papers @: http://www.cnah.org/pdf_files/
Be-sure to see the next page feature link at the bottom of your window. If you enter the search criteria w/ nothing, all 200 papers are available tho you have to scroll thru some 21 pages to see them all.

http://tucsonherpsociety.org/publications.html Many [Many!] great papers here too.

http://www.eitangrunwald.com/herptrips Ck-out Eitans links after you njoy his trips out...

Hopefully this post will start a trend of posting the best of the best herp links we've stumbled into over the past few years...can anyone imagine how this cyber-library is going to grow over the next 15-50 years!!!

Saludos, John Gunn

John,
Tis nice to see that you frequent the forum from time to time. But it not like it use to be a couple of years ago.

BH contacted me a few weeks ago asking that I review the AZ PARC Conservation forum. He and Rick S. had posted non-politically correct views dealing with the same old topic of collecting for personal use as having a negative impact on herp populations. He thought I might be interested (wanted support).

After a couple of weeks, I entered a post that mentioned two common myths, that some individuals consider herps to be rare and that collecting for personal use can bring about negative consequenses to overall herp populations. I confined my remarks to the latter subject.

Yes this forum has become somewhat moribund like most of the others...pity. Thats why I thought this URL sharing idea might be a good one. In fact Ill donate another in hopes of shaming some of the lurkers into posting....

http://www.herpetofauna.org/ Ck-out the many journal links there too...

Heres hoping you and yours are well, & recovering somewhat [as best as one can] from your nasty experiences w/ elements of our often inept govt this past year.
Things are going well for me; Ive got a blackpowder deer hunt coming up which will be a gr8t opportunity to get out of the routine & back deep in to the low desert wilderness...

I'll ck-out that PARC forum thread to which you referenced. Thats an intrenched topic isnt it. I wonder if anyone has changed their mind about it based on the truckloads of posts that have been made regarding it. Somehow I doubt it, but hey none are so blind as she who will not see...eh! We had another round of protectionist rules passed here in Az this past year...box turtles went from 1-2 /year..... down to zero per lifetime w/o any data...zzzz

Take care, & send us down some more storm fronts...the deserts getting mighty green already
