I feed wild crickets to my rescue frog. My wife doesn't spray any pestcides and its been OK. If they are truely adults the females will have egg tubes sticking out their rears ( WOW that's real scientific). Why not give it a try?

I usually try to convince folks NOT to raise wild caught rodents because of hanta, rabies, fleas, bubonic plauge (yes really), but why not give crikets a try? Just be sure you keep them seperate from any other crickets you have.

I collect crickets by leaving something like egg crate on the ground at sunset, then pick it up and shake it into a trash bag an a hour or so later and again in the morning (I'm usually up before dawn).

Those crickets are native to the area I live in as well, and I thought about finding some to start a breeding colony of them. However, I think I may have seen an adult male actually FLY--so take precautions along that line.
