Not sure what you mean as far as anything special....special care requirements, or as in looks. I'd suggest checking out Jason and Danni's site at dumerils.com You should be able to find all the general information you need right there. After reading that through if you end up with any specific problems or questions, ask away! In my opinion, they're great captives, very hardy, one of the easier species to breed, manageable size, etc. Let us know what you end up doing. Take care!

Dumerils are great. I love em. They look cool, completely different from new world boas. They're quite docile. Easy to keep. They don't require as much temp as south american boas and they stay on the small size compared to many large snakes. They're priced resonable,
around a 100.00 to 125.00 for babies and I hear they breed fairly easy. Sounds good so far. The only problem with dums that i hear about alot is feeding concerns. Some seem to be difficult feeders as babies. My sugestion is, watching the dumerils feed before purchasing. Or buy from someone you can trust.
I hope this helps.

Dumerils are great. I've had mine only 4 months but I can already see that he's going to be an easy animal to look after. Great, docile personality but less shy than my ball python. I've heard that once you get them eating, they're reliable feeders. I can attest to that. Mine is always ready for a meal! Don't overfeed them though. They can be a bit more sedentary than South American boas.
If you haven't already done so, check out the article about Dums in the December issue of Reptiles magazine.
