Oh! No! My pacman frog is dead!

moko Dec 02, 2004 12:02 PM

Clover had been brumating for about four weeks now. She had the plastic shell and had buried herself. I have been checking on her once a week and today I found that she had died. What happened? Can anyone help me? I don't want to repeat a mistake. I kept water in the cage for her and she was nice and fat when she went to sleep. I just can't believe she's gone. I loved that frog and have missed her since she went under.

First off are you sure your frog is dead? It could just seem like it. If it has a thick coat over it and its eyes are real coated its probley not dead.

If it is dead there could be a few reasons.. TO low of a tempature, Low moisture levels, and other reasons.

Also did you dechlorinate the water?

What were you feeding it?

How old was your frog?

Did you mist daily?

How often did you change the water in its tank?

Her tank had an under tank heater. I changed her water every day. I used treated water. When she was up I sprayed her every day, but since she's been under not every day. I'm beginning to think that the cage was too dry. she definitely is dead because she smelled dead. There's no denying that odor. Thank you for all your help.

did you put down some gravel or pet carpet or something between the substrate and the bottom of the tank? if you didnt the undertank heater may of heated the water and substrate way to high for your frog

She did bury herself all the way down to the glass and was on the edge of the heater. You have given me some good information.thank you. I don't know if I'll try a frog again, but I will be more informed if I do.
