How are their temperments can they be dog tamed do they make good pets
Please remember each lizard is going to have his/her own personality but if I had it to do over I would not get a Dumeril. I got mine as a CB hatchling a year ago and for the first 3 months I handled him a minium of 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time. He still prefers to hide all the time. I know I could change my husbandey to force him out but I choose to give him what he needs and let him come out on his own. I do force him to come out in order to get food that means I see him only every other day and once he eats I do not see him until he is hungry again. I can handle him but he doesn’t really like it, he hisses and tail whips but never bites. Over a month ago I started feeding him by hand (I know this may be questionable in some peoples eyes) but there is no change in his attitude. I also keep a B&W tegu and he is what I would call a pet and has free roam of my house. If you are set on a monitor you may be able to find others species that are closer to what I would call a pet. Maybe I just got a Dum that hates people
but all accounts I have read indicate they seem to be very secretive animals.
