iv got a few ratsnakes. and everglades, yellow and 3 corns. 4 of the 5 are on rats of varying sizes. would it be ok the vary there diet a little with quail or chicks. they are all good eaters and are mostly gargage disposals when it comes to feeding so i dont think they would switch to just chicks. Whats is everyoines thoughts would varying there diet make them switch the jsut wanting chicks or do you think it would be ok. is there any harm in doing this. ill be getting the chicks or quail from rodentpro by the way and have never had a problem with them all the times iv used there feeders.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it." The only reason I have ever fed chicks or quail is if they won't eat anything else. OMHO.

actually he's a Blue & Gold Macaw

that the feces produced by snakes after they've eaten a bird-thing is waaaaaaaaay more fowl (pun intended) than processed mouse. Never tried it myself...........so it's just second hand info

. . .your source was informed. The odor has a personality all it's own. I only feed chicks or quail if a snake won't take anything else.

I use rats mice and chicks. I have heard a lot about smell and consistency of the feces. Its a little different, but not bad at all. This is the first year I've used chciks, I fed my snakes rats one week, the next I'd feed them 1 chick and 1 mouse. It had great effects. The chicks are actually better according to rodent pro's nutrition charts. Next season, I'll continue to use chicks. Also problem feeders can be tempted to eat the wings of the chicks.
