Well, now I've gone and done it! I bought another dragon...

RaderRVT Dec 02, 2004 08:30 PM

She is a female from Palm Deach Dragon's and I fell inlove with her mother's picture and then when I talked to Deby about her personality I was sold. She was a bargain too.

Here's her mama, Kara they got her from Sundial's Mac Gold X German line (retired breeders)

Hey!! I have a Kara x Beardie baby from Palm Beach Dragons, too! Mine's a Male. Let me know if you ever want to see a pic or compare notes I can tell you he's a VERY GOOD eater

RaderRVT Dec 02, 2004 08:52 PM

Very cool! How old is your male? How big is he? Is he laid back like they say Kara and Beardie are?

Kearse is from the same clutch yours is (I believe, that's the only clutch left she has from those parents anyway), he was hatched in July. He's currently almost 12.5" long and was the largest in the clutch when we got him! He eats about 50-100 crix per day. He's not exactly, um, mellow though - he's a handful when it comes to handling him. He blackens his beard and tries to squirm away. I just say he's "manly" and try to limit my handling of him until he's older and calmer. I have a Rexina baby from Deby as well I'll attach a recent pic of my Kearse - this was just after his last shed. He's just about to shed again, too - he constantly eats, eats, eats and sheds, sheds, sheds! LOL. He has a fat tail and jowls too. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

Not as a staple. Occasionally and in small amounts, they are ok. I personally do not feed them at all. Too high in phosphorous, too much chitin (can cause impactions in younger dragons), many better insect feeder choices. I am a silkworm gal myself.

What about mealies?

Congrats!!! I guess I got the idea going in your head with my post last week lol. You need to post pics of the new baby and the set-up you have it in, I'd love to see!

(btw, we settled on probly getting 2 from a local petshop and 1 specialty dragon, preferrably an orange snow)

Chris, yes, you got me looking around and I just ended up buying one. I'll be sure to blame you when my husband finds out!

Celeste, Thank you so much! Actually, my baby was hatched Sept 2. So she is only 3 months. He is quite handsome! I love his colors! Here is a picture of my one year old Fuego (taken this summer in June when he was nine months old). He is a red flame from Fire and Ice.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice! Is your fuego a male? Here's my Lola, eyeballing a cricket Which female did you end up getting from Deby? I still peruse her site on occasion to keep track of what she has available.

RaderRVT Dec 02, 2004 09:39 PM

She's realy pretty! Yes, Fuego is a boy! Wouldn't he and your girl make some pretty babies?!

Here's my other dragon Spud she is a little over 2 years but really small. She was an adoption a year ago.

Stacey

celeste Dec 02, 2004 09:42 PM

Hell yeah they'd make pretty babies. If we ever decide to breed her you'll have to send Fuego over for stud duty, LOL.

Spud's adorable! Do you know the blood line there?

RaderRVT Dec 02, 2004 09:47 PM

I don't know what her breeding is. She was a "failure to thrive" dragon that CheriS saved. She was 5 grams at 7 months of age and now she is over 300 grams. She really has nice color for a normal. Maybe CheriS will pop in and tell what her breeding is.

Here she is this summer. She has doubled her weight since I got her. From 150 grams to over 300.

Oh! As soon as I saw your pic I rememberd who you were, LOL. I can never remember screen names on this thing. I'd LOVE to get another beardie sometime in the spring/summer, my husband hasn't approved it yet though!

If you have AOL or YAHOO, you'll have to give me your ID's so we can chat sometimes!

RaderRVT Dec 02, 2004 10:06 PM

I am kind of an old lady. This is as close to chatting as I get. LOL!

Tara? Scarlett O'Hara? Or Hera (greek goddess of something...Zeus's wifey). Hmmmmm....Taryn? I almost named Lola "Ramona" but she looked more like a Lola to me, LOL

RaderRVT Dec 02, 2004 09:49 PM

Ooh, I kind of like Ramona. I'll have to think about that one.
