flexwatt problem..getting HOT!!

marco2 Dec 02, 2004 11:05 PM

I just wired a 2 foot section of 3" flexwatt thru a single pole dimmer. The dimmer clicks ON/OFF when rotated, NOT the push type. On the lowest setting, just after clicking ON, the tape heat to about 93 deg. That seems too HOT for the lowest setting. MY other tapes/dimmers usually are low 80's at the lowest. What can be causing this? thanks for any help...

It could be letting too much current pass through it is the only thing I can think of to explain it.. Replace the switch.

Every dimmer will vaery in the amount of current they let pass through.. Might want to think about investing in a thermostat...
