vaccines?

ok, stupid question I am sure...

I am getting a juvi leopard tortoise next week. He's approx. 2 inches and reportedly in fine health.

Question is, should I take him to the vet after I get him for a check-up? I'd rather not spend 50 bucks just for the vet to look at him and tell me he's fine.

Are there any vaccines or shots that would be beneficial to this tortoise?

there are deparasite med but must know your tort and use it sparingly, watch him closely a couple of days for any unsusual behavior/symptoms.
