Easterns are done hatching

steve fuller Jul 01, 2003 09:16 PM

Started with eight eggs on 3/29. Two were infertile and lacked good shape, color, and texture of other six. Kept them anyway until they started to harden. Five eggs hatched 6/28 - 6/30. All slit shells with no help. Sixth egg looked like others except for slight yellow tinge. Had right texture and size. When I cut a slit I saw that inside material was partly solid and there was no sign of an embryo. Black male and red-throat female produced 1.4 red-throat hatchlings. One of the females has kinks in tail. This was first breeding for both parents.

There hasn't been a ton of success with us on-line dry' fans this year. It's good to hear somebody is doing well.
