My bull neo is a PIG!

dmac Dec 03, 2004 05:13 PM

I bought my first pit last summer (snow bull) and MAN, THIS THING CAN EAT! He's about 14-16 inches and gets a pinky rat every Friday. I am used to my boas, which are adults and get fed every 15th and 30th, and even then they "play" with their food for sometimes an hour before they eat. Not this guy. It's all I can do to get out of the way! One time he latched on to my feeding tongs by mistake (plastic tipped) and STARTED TO SWALLOW-had to pull him off. Today he ate the prey backwards. Took him about 45 seconds. Are they all like this?

Most pituophis eat like you describe, there are a few that are a little harder to start but once they get started they are real eating machines.

Good Luck and I am sorry to say you are now hooked and the boas etc will slowly make way for these wonderful creatures. LOL

An albino Sonoran Gopher, it is out of a line we have been working with to inhance the reds in for a few years. Out of the line we call our "beautiful line". By mixing up the coloration of the hets we out bred to for a dull yellow wash it really makes a beautiful albino to us anyway. And a really decent looking het.

I've had my 4 month old bull for 2 months and just love her! Her feeding response is not too aggresive, about the same as my corn snake. Nothing like my king. but she's never refused a meal. I'm feeding her big fuzzies and hoppers now, about 2/week. She's about 22" and 70 grams!! I'm hopping for a 7 footer someday! I'm not sure if IL bulls will get that big though... we'll see
