Mangrove vs Peach throat!

davemaymon Dec 03, 2004 06:43 PM

hey whats up first time post in this forum...
heres the deal i have snakes and crested geckos. ive wanted a monitor wasnt sure what kind unless i got rich quick then id know exactly what kind i want but lets face it thats not going to happen so no croc monitor for me!
but i won some money today on a scratch ticket and im torn the reptile shop i go to has a baby mangrove ive always like them and they stay realitively small
but they also have some incredile peach throats. but i am hearing these peach throats are un-tameable is this true? i know that every one has a specific personality yada yada but on the avg there more of a chance of getting one that isnt very friendly is this correct?

also blue tails are one of my favorites they have one that was traded in and its big and a lil beat up looking its a a very fair price and i was told its quite pissy as well
so if u were me what would you go buy with your money?
id love the blue tail if it was a baby but its not, the mangrove is,the peach throat isnt a baby but still really small and really pretty, just they arent very socialable
i dont know what to do help me out.
whats my best chance here at getting something i can hold and take out and let roam around ??
thanks
DAve

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but aren't mangroves and peachthroats very similar?

Peachthroats are gorgeous!!!

There are chameleons, pythons, and monitors in my jungle room.

Do you plan to buy more scratch tickets so you can buy food and cage material?

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

unless you want to send me a ticket maybe i can pick up a new climbing stick or something Thanks for the concern

None of those cages are going to be big enough for an average sized peachthroat, much less mangrove. While you may find a small one, if you do your job right, they'll be out of those cages in a couple months.

I would recommend you avoid any w.c. unless you understand what you are in for (and these species are ALL w.c., the exceptions are so few and far between they aren't worth thinking about).

If you want an opinion, get an ackie, if you think you can handle and want a larger monitor (and are prepared to build a much larger cage), get a cross or argus. If you really think food will be cheap, get the argus and tell me in a year what you think.
