A BITE FROM A BEAUTY... TYPE 2 ANERY GOT ME ... ;0) ....pics of bite

reptimals Dec 03, 2004 08:08 PM

OUCH.. i got bit lol ... man i have to admit though i have gone a good couple years without any bad bites, and from the amount of boas/pythons i have had and the amount of aggressive ones i have had i am pretty proud of that ;0).
Anyway first off the bite was my fault.. ITS NEVER THE SNAKES FAULT ITS THE HANDLERS.. i was cleaning the cage bc she left me a BIG PRESENT lol .. but i fgured i would snap some pictures of her before i cleaned bc she just looked so good .. so i was taking pics of her and all was well and i decided to just take out the newspaper on the other side of her.. well i lost track of her where abouts and my hand looked like a great tasting rat so she got me ... man nothing beats that split second of adrenline when u first get bit lol ... well one of her bigger teeth got me in a vein so the blood was shooting out everywere .. i mean all over my close, the floor , the walls and so on. But i tell you what the teeth and bleeding are not what bother me, its the BRUISING ... the pictures are after a bit of time so they dont really show how bad the bite really was but take my word for it .. it was bad ..my hand right now is pure blue and brown and swollen bad and this is after a couple of days..i wish i would of taken a picture earlier on but i was busy cleaning all the blood.. i think when people buy snakes like burmese pythons that get to big they should include a picture of a bad bite to help show the customer what they can be getting into. ;0)

anyway i will post the pics of the bite in this message and then i will post pics of the female in another ...by the way this is one of my tamer boas lol .. she just was hungry..

My worst bite was a 5ft macklots python. It bit my hand and wrapped up around the arm not letting go. It took about 5 min to get it off of me. I was new to snakes and my first reaction was to just grab its mouth and try to work it off of me. Mistake. Man all those teeth can cut you up. Oh well.

That one was worse than the 5.5 ft columbian that tagged me, and makes me real glad that I escaped the 8.3 footer... Although I sound lucky after reading Linda's account.

on the hand. Just like yours, a tooth got one of the blood vessels running across the top of my hand. In seconds, my hand ballooned up (I think from the vessel bleeding into surrounding tissue) and looked like a laytex glove full of air. It bled for a while and left a nice purpley bruise, but it never really hurt. I was more astonished by the rapid swelling than the bite itself. Oh....and I still love the boa lady who tagged me....even more today.....and the bite was my fault as well. I didn't take the time to read her as well as I should have.

Been there done that, LoL. Got tagged accross my knuckles from a 6 1/2 ft female boa. Yes, my fault too. Someone was at the door at my home, and she was around my neck relaxing. I rushed to put her away and in my hurry she got me. (I didn't want to scare the person at my door, since I didn't know them too well ). Anyhow, it looked much like yours (the bite), and I didn't realize how bad it was until the person at the door mentioned the blood dripping down my hand to the floor! It didn't hurt at all at first, until all the bruising the next day too! Ouch the recovery sucked, but initially being bitten didn't hurt at all. Just be careful to all who handle snakes.

that I almost got several years ago would have made the newspapers. My son wanted to feed Spot,my 45 pound Savannah Monitor.

We would put him in the other room, whistle and he would come running for his grub.My kid asked if he could feed him and I got Spot out and he followed me into the living room and sat down to watch the tube.Matt got the rat and held it out with the tongs, decided to play cutsie(he was only about 11 at the time),and when Spot "jumped" for the rat(he would stand up on his hind legs Matt teased him and swung the rat away from him, where it slipped off of the tongs and landed in my lap.I was wearing a bath robe and boxers at the time.Could have been worse than my botched vasectomy, but I managed to move quicker than I had ever moved(then and now) and all was well.
