What is a good "starter" monitor

Im decently experienced with lizards, I have and Austraillain water dragon, had more but moved and had to downsize. anyway I was wondering what would be a good first monitor?

Just kidding.

Akies are good if you want to stay small and anything from the gouldi group would be fun if you want it to get a bit bigger.

Of course the Savannah is a low cost entry level monitor.

I'd definately suggest the ackies. They're little powerhouses. Big monitor in small package, they are less likely to run from you, bite you, tail whip you, or deficate on you, and they never seem to be still. My rescue savannah is neat, but the ackies beat him as general all around fun to watch monitors that, while they eat A LOT for their size, will not eat you out of house and home. Plus they stay small, so once you really get the monitor bug, they will have left you with some room to expand your collection.
