Hi,
I just saw an ad for galapagos torts for sale in the classifieds. Isn't that illegal? I thought all of the wildlife on the Galapagos islands were protected. Did something change or did I just get it wrong? Thanks, jrbl

As long as it doesn't cross state lines or both seller and recipient has a CBW permit.

If a species is on the federal endanged species list, a federal CBW permit is required to buy or sell across state lines.
Many states don't require state permits to have federally listed animals however I've heard that NY, and IL do.
Do any other states require a state permit to own federally listed exotic endangered species like galops?
I would think that if you have a federal permit, it would just be a matter of paperwork to get a local permit if such a law exists.
You raise an interesting question though. Most people, myself included, assume that if it is protected on the federal level the local level is not going to waste its money enacting legislation on the local level. (but I guess some local governments are not that smart)
