what does 1.2, 4.0, 5.0 mean?

I'm new to snakes, and am confused why people list corn snake variations as the decimaled numbers. Any help would greatly be appreciated. All of the posts have help interest me in the hobby.

it denotes the number and sex of the snakes.
3.4.2 would be 3 males, 4 females, and 2 unsexed
there is a glossary of terms on this site you may find helpful as well.
